Savage Garden Band

  1. Yeah, they’re inactive but I adore Savage Garden. Darren Hayes has the voice of an angel

My first ever live music experience was seeing them when I was very young.

They have a lot of good songs, particularly on Affirmation, but "I Don't Know You Anymore" is one of my all-time-favorite album closers.

    Regular

I was 6 when the self titled album came out and that was hands down the first album that made me feel something. To the Moon and Back, I Want You, Break Me Shame Me were all songs that changed my life and I’m 100% sure they’re the reason I have a broad music taste. Really, just growing up in 90s is probably why.

    Trusted

I got a signed photo of Savage Garden from their website after I joined their mail fan club lol

Affirmation is actually a very strong pop album, I loved The Animal Song, Crash and Burn and the title track from first listen

I should dive a little deeper into his solo stuff, he had an interesting album called The Tension and the Spark that I didn’t give enough listens to

The Tension and the Spark will forever be my favorite album. I found it at the perfect time in my life, and to this day, it rescues me when I need it most.

@Mary V did you dig Delicate?

Awesome! It's admittedly a challenging listen (as all double LP concept albums about time travel tend to be ;-) ), but it has some of my favorite tracks of his.

    Edit: ...such as this one!

Another favorite from The Tension and the Spark. Some of these lyrics are heart-wrenching.

(I can't believe that this album will be 15 years old in September.)

Savage Garden was my favorite band for the majority of my childhood, saw them live once and it was an experience. LOVED Darren solo music as well, Spin and Tension & The Spark are honestly pop masterpieces.

I honestly only knew a handful of the big hits by Savage Garden but always liked them... they were a bit before my time lol. This thread inspired me to check out their debut album... right away To The Moon & Back hooked me! This is fantastic so far.

    It's awesome to hear this!

This one is a deep cut for those of us in the US. The image in the video is confusing because this track was definitely on the first album (overseas), and not on Affirmation. Regardless, it's probably my favorite SG song. Their demo tape even had a rather well-fleshed-out version of this track on it - I believe I read that it was written in 1994 or so.

I've gone deep on SG and Darren b-sides, there's some really good stuff in there that's been loudly mostly unknown

I completely agree. "Random Blinking Light" and "Ocean" are top favorite Darren Hayes songs of mine.
